  This kit is intended for the quantitative in vitro measurement of D-dimer concentrations in human whole blood and plasma. The test may be used by medical and healthcare facilities to aid in the diagnosis of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), pulmonary embolism, and other related conditions. D-dimer is a specific degradation product of the fibrin monomer, formed as a result of the action of factor XIII activator and hydrolysis by plasmin. It may reflect coagulation function and fibrinolytic activity in the body. It is an indicator of hypercoagulability, thrombosis, and secondary hyperfibrinolysis. D-dimer levels rise in cases of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, disseminated intravascular coagulation, severe hepatitis, and other diseases. They may also increase following thrombolytic therapy, making D-dimer an effective monitoring marker for this treatment. Due to its high sensitivity and predictive value, a low D-dimer level is clinically used as an important basis for ruling out pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
