The testosterone test kit is intended for the quantitative in vitro measurement of testosterone (TESTO) levels in human whole blood, serum, or plasma. The test can be used by medical and healthcare facilities to assist in the assessment of hormone levels in the body.

Testosterone (17β-hydroxyandrosterone-4-alkene-3-one) is an anabolic steroid, primarily synthesized by the Leydig cells of the testes and in the ovaries and adrenal glands in both men and women. It is synthesized from cholesterol, androstane, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), progesterone, and pregnenolone as intermediate substrates. In men, testosterone levels increase 10 to 20 times during puberty, causing physiological changes associated with sexual maturation. Testosterone has a strong and far-reaching impact on emotional health, sexual function, muscle mass and strength, energy, cardiovascular health, bone integrity, and cognitive function throughout life. In the blood, only 1% to 15% of testosterone is unbound or biologically active, while the remaining testosterone is bound to serum proteins.
