This kit is used for the quantitative in vitro measurement of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in human whole blood. The test can be used by medical and healthcare facilities as an aid in monitoring the long-term glycemic control of patients with diabetes.

Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a product formed when glucose in the blood binds with hemoglobin in erythrocytes. The formation process is slow, and the resulting glycated hemoglobin does not dissociate and is not susceptible to transient spikes in blood glucose levels. Therefore, HbA1c has special diagnostic value in hyperglycemia, especially in situations of large fluctuations in glucose concentration. The glycated hemoglobin content in the blood reflects the average glucose concentration over the last 8–12 weeks, allowing for an assessment of glucose metabolism in the body and the degree of diabetes control.
