This kit is used for the qualitative detection of fecal occult blood (FOB) in human stool. The test is used to diagnose gastrointestinal bleeding, which may be caused by various conditions such as colorectal cancer, ulcers, polyps, colitis, diverticulosis, and anal fissures.

Occult blood in stool, also known as Fecal Occult Blood (FOB) or human hemoglobin, is blood present in stool that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Early stages of gastrointestinal problems, such as colorectal cancer, ulcers, polyps, colitis, diverticulosis, and anal fissures, may not show visible symptoms, but only the presence of occult blood. Traditional methods based on guaiac tests have limited sensitivity and specificity and require dietary restrictions prior to testing.
