Product description

Rapid cassette test for Strep A (bacterial sore throat and scarlet fever)

This is a rapid immunochromatographic test designed for the qualitative detection of specific Streptococcus A antigens. The test can be performed at home and is suitable for use by adults and children over the age of 2. It is performed using a throat swab sample. Strep A streptococci can cause sore throat or scarlet fever.

Group A Streptococcus β-hemolytic, also known as Streptococcus pyogenes, is a bacterium that can cause various health problems. These include conditions such as throat infection (sore throat), skin infections such as impetigo and erysipelas, as well as more serious complications like acute glomerulonephritis, sepsis, and rheumatic heart disease. It is important to know that while sore throats are usually caused by viruses, they can sometimes result from a bacterial infection, such as that caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. In the case of bacterial infection, antibiotic treatment may be necessary.

The high accuracy of this test allows for reliable results, which are obtained in just 10 minutes!

  • Preventing the Spread of Infection: In workplaces where contact between employees is frequent, the rapid test can help identify and isolate infected individuals, which is essential for maintaining a healthy work environment.
  • Safety During Travel: Travelers, especially to areas with a high risk of infection, can bring the test with them to quickly diagnose and respond to the appearance of infectious symptoms, which is particularly important in cases of limited access to medical services.
