Product description

Ferritin level test (fingertip whole blood).

This is a rapid test for the qualitative determination of ferritin in human fingertip blood for the detection of iron deficiency anemia.

Iron – is a component of many proteins. It is a key component of hemoglobin, and enters into the composition of red blood cells and myoglobin, where it has an important function in oxygen transport in muscle tissues. Iron is also found in the so-called active centers of enzymes, which include peroxidase, catalase and cytochromes.

Iron deficiency occurs when the blood does not contain enough red blood cells, and thus there is a low level of hemoglobin, which is the main protein involved in transporting oxygen throughout the body. An important component of hemoglobin is iron. Iron deficiency anemia is common in children and women of all ages, but mainly in women who menstruate (at least 20% of them suffer from iron deficiency). The main symptoms are pallor, feeling tired, headaches, faster heartbeat or shortness of breath when exercising. Low ferritin levels may indicate hypothyroidism, vitamin C deficiency or celiac disease.
