This kit is intended for the quantitative in vitro measurement of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. The AMH test can be used by medical and healthcare facilities to assist in the assessment of ovarian reserve and reproductive function in women and men.

AMH is a hormone secreted by Sertoli cells in the testes of men. During male embryonic development, AMH is responsible for the regression of the Müllerian duct and the normal development of the male reproductive system. AMH is produced by the testes until puberty, after which its levels gradually decrease to post-pubertal values. In women, AMH plays an important role in the development of ovarian follicles. AMH levels are nearly undetectable in female newborns, reach their highest values after puberty, and then gradually decline with age, becoming undetectable after menopause. The AMH test is used clinically to assess ovarian reserve, which reflects the number of preantral follicles and allows for the prediction of response to controlled ovulation.
