BD Vacutainer Morphology Tube

BD Vacutainer is a sterile, vacuum morphology tube designed for the collection and stabilization of whole blood or plasma using the anticoagulant EDTA in the K₂ form (EDTA K₂). The tube is made of plastic, with dimensions of 13 × 75 mm and a capacity of 2 ml. The inner wall is coated with the appropriate dose of EDTA, and the product label includes a fill indicator, which facilitates sample volume control and ensures accuracy in testing. The package contains 100 pieces.

EDTA prevents clotting by forming complexes with metal ions such as calcium, thereby inhibiting the coagulation cascade. The anticoagulant effect is irreversible. Proper mixing of the tube with EDTA (inverting the tube 8–10 times) immediately after sample collection plays a crucial role in preventing microclot formation.
